The European Union has proposed a ban on manysingle-use plastics such as straws, cutlery andcotton buds, to come in force by 2025.

近日，歐盟針對吸管、餐具和棉簽等一次性塑料制品提出一項禁令，預計將于2025年前生效。

There would also be a move to force EU memberstates to collect 90% of the plastic bottles used fordrinks, potentially through deposit refund schemes.

歐盟還可能采取一項行動(dòng)，通過(guò)押金償還制度迫使歐盟成員國回收90%用于裝飲料的塑料瓶。

The proposals are part of a drive in Brussels totackle pollution from plastic waste, which is now showing up in the food chain.

The European Commission estimates that these rules, once fully implemented in 2030, couldcost businesses over EUR3 billion per year. But they could also save consumers about EUR6.5 billion per year, create 30,000 jobs, and avoid EUR22 billion in environmental damage andcleanup costs.

據歐盟委員會(huì )估計，一旦這些法令于2030年全面實(shí)施，每年將使企業(yè)花費逾30億歐元，但同時(shí)每年也為消費者節省約65億歐元，增加就業(yè)崗位3萬(wàn)個(gè)，避免造成的環(huán)境損害和清潔成本達220億歐元。

"Plastic waste is undeniably a big issue and Europeans need to act together to tackle thisproblem," the EU's First Vice President, Frans Timmermans, said.
